Cardiac catheterisation suite scene   Mr Gaskin - Planned Care Movie   Touring the Polyclinic

Polyclinic tour: Here we tour two Polyclinics, a standalone facility catering for a population of around 50,000 and one co-located with a local hospital catering for around 200,000. You can tour the second Polyclinic yourself in Second Life.

Emergency & Specialist care: Mr Brown suffers a heart attack and is taken by ambulance to a specialist heart hospital where skilled doctors perform a simple procedure to unblock his artery.

Planned care: Mr Gaskin has a sore knee so he visits the polyclinic at his local community hospital where he sees his GP and gets an MRI scan and an immediate diagnosis in the same visit.

Patient Safety: In this project for NHS Training for Innovation the Department of Biosurgery and Surgical Technologies at Imperial College London designed, built and tested a scenario-based simulation in the 3D virtual world of Second Life. Their research illustrates the use of Second Life as a novel platform for immersive clinical training.

You read about treatments for Diabetic Ketoacidosis,  Respiratory Failure, NSTEMI, STEMI, etc you name it. Once you read about it instead of having your usual, boring and annoying test your test becomes a 3d Virtual game where you get to exercise your knowledge.  This will stick better to your brain and you will be less likely to forget it.  So instead of having a Multiple Choice Test on the subject have a 3D Virtual Test! It’s kind of a Gamified Test!  Still do not get the picture? Here take a look at the following link by Second Health which have done an amazing job. […]
